Detroit — The city of Detroit has found a new steel industry.
A new steel manufacturing company has opened in the city, and the first shipment of steel will be delivered next month.
Detroit announced the opening of the new manufacturing facility in December.
In an interview with The Sport Biblical, Chief Executive Officer of the Detroit-based Steel Foundry, Michael B. Gagnon, said the company is proud to be in the Detroit area and to work with the city.
“Detroit has become an international hub for manufacturing,” Gagnons stated.
“The Steel Foundries Detroit factory will help us expand the Detroit market and build upon the momentum of the economic renaissance in the state.”
The new Steel Foundris Detroit facility will be the largest steel mill in the world, and it will produce more than 1 million tons of steel each year.
The company plans to produce 1.2 million tons in 2017, with more than 2 million tons delivered in 2018.
Detroit-based Cargill Inc. purchased the steel mill last year for $1.8 billion, according to Bloomberg.
The Steelfoundries is the largest privately owned steel company in the United States.
It is one of the largest suppliers of steel to the U.S. Steel, Inc. It has a total production capacity of more than 8 million tons annually.
According to the company’s website, the company provides industrial products and services to industrial, automotive and agricultural markets worldwide.
